What is synastry?
Synastry is the comparison of two birth charts. Each person’s planets stay in their own signs. The question is how those planets aspect one another — whether one person’s Moon sits with the other’s Sun, whether Mars squares Venus, whether the Ascendants ease or tense each other.
How two charts are compared
Inner Light calculates two tropical natal charts from the two birth records, then lists the major aspects between them: conjunction, opposition, trine, square, and sextile, with the measured angle and orb. When both birth times are known, house overlays can appear in that table — one person’s planet in the other person’s house.
Conjunction, opposition, trine, square, sextile
A conjunction fuses two themes. An opposition sets them across the wheel. A trine describes ease of flow. A square describes friction that wants work. A sextile describes opportunity that still has to be taken. An orb is how far the angle may stand from exact and still be counted.
Moon and Ascendant
Moon-to-Moon contacts are the emotional weather of the pair. Ascendant-to-Ascendant contacts describe how two people meet the world together. They are important aspects among others, not a single compatibility score.
Ashta Koota, beside the aspects
Ashta Koota (Guna Milan) is a separate Vedic matching table scored from the two Moons — signs, Nakshatras, and eight kootas totaling 36. It is not a restatement of the Western aspects. Mangal Dosha is another Vedic count, from Mars in certain houses of each D1 chart. Both need birth time so the Moon and Lagna are not guessed.
