What is a Life Path number?
Your Life Path number comes from adding together every digit in your full birth date, then reducing the result to a single digit, unless it lands on 11, 22, or 33, which are kept as master numbers. In numerology, it's usually read as the broadest number in your profile: the general direction and lessons a person's life tends to move through, rather than a prediction of specific events.
Unlike your Destiny or Soul Urge number, which come from your name, the Life Path number depends only on your birth date, so it never changes and doesn't depend on which name you go by.
How it's calculated
We add the digits of your birth day, month, and year separately, reduce each to a single digit or master number, then add those three results together and reduce again. Master numbers (11, 22, 33) are preserved at any stage of the reduction rather than being collapsed further, since numerology treats them as carrying their own distinct meaning.
Pythagorean vs Chaldean
This calculator uses the Pythagorean method, the more common system in modern Western numerology, based on straightforward digit reduction. The older Chaldean system assigns different values to letters (relevant for your Destiny and Soul Urge numbers, not the Life Path, which is date-based in both systems) and doesn't reduce master numbers the same way. If a number reads differently on a site using Chaldean numerology, that's the system difference, not a calculation error.
Common questions
Why did I get an 11, 22, or 33 instead of a single digit?+
These are master numbers. Numerology treats them as carrying extra significance, so they're kept unreduced rather than being added down to a single digit like 2 (11), 4 (22), or 6 (33).
Does my Life Path number ever change?+
No. It's calculated purely from your birth date, which is fixed, so the number stays the same for your entire life.
Is a higher Life Path number better than a lower one?+
No. Numerology doesn't rank numbers as better or worse, each one describes a different pattern or set of tendencies, not a score.
